Following the success of the district’s fundraising last year for the Wheelchair Foundation, the committee is this year encouraging clubs to raise funds for Rotarians Eliminating Malaria in Tanzania (REMIT).
It is REMIT’s goal to provide Insecticide Treated Nets (ITN's) for every pregnant woman and child under five in Tanzania. Over a million people a year die from Malaria, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa, and a net, which is locally produced and costs just £2.50, can save many lives.
Clubs wishing to make donations to this appeal should send cheques payable to REMIT and sent to Alan Holdcroft (address details are in the District Directory).
